Notes from King Chiikawa

Sasadango (笹団子) is a traditional Niigata confection made from mugwort-flavored rice dough filled with sweet red bean paste and wrapped in bamboo leaves. The distinctive green, leaf-wrapped dumplings are closely associated with Niigata and have become one of the prefecture's best-known regional specialties.
